Internet explorer gives a connection error even though i am actually connected.?

I can download emails via outlook which confirms there is a connection.

I updated nortons %26amp; windows defender and ran the scans- no virus or spyware detected.

Does anyone have a solution?

did you restarted your pc?

If so, maybe you have to check your firewall.

Try also firefox or netscape

Are you able to use Netscape or firefox? If not.

Try disabling your firewall (s) for a minute and see if IE will work if it does then its a problem with permissions. Windows XP firewall should be disabled if your using the Norton firewall or any other firewall at all times.

If the firewall is not the problem turn your modem off for a minute and then back on ( I'm assuming you have high speed ) and sign on ,don't assume your signed on regardless of what you are able to download, find the actual screen were you have to enter your user name and password ( this is important) and then click connect.
